Tech Editing

Calling all Designers

I offer a full knitting and crocheting Tech Editing Service

You might be thinking - why do I need a Tech Editor?  Well the answer is simple - if you want super clear patterns that are a joy to work from, easy to read and charts that are clear and concise, then you need a Tech Editor. Maybe you need help converting your patterns into charts or help with your Style Sheet - I can help with that too.

Having been taught to knit and crochet as a young child, I have 50 years experience in both crafts. Although I enjoy both and edit both, my first love is always knitting - In fact it's my obsession! My particular specialities are lacework, cables and colourwork. I have taught many successful knitting and crocheting workshops over the years and host a Knitting Surgery at my Knit and Natter group and always receive very favourable feedback.

My day job for many years has been book-keeping, so spreadsheets and numbers don't scare me. With an eye for detail, I work in a methodical and organised way and I am used to working to deadlines. I am friendly and approachable and always happy to help.

Over the years I have knitted and crocheted many patterns some perfectly written, some not so perfect. Let me help you create the former, not the latter and make your patterns the best they can possibly be!

Pattern Support...

Whilst I make every effort to edit patterns as accurately as I can, mistakes can happen. If you have a problem with a pattern I’ve edited or find a mistake I want to hear about it!  Please email me, with a copy of the pattern detailing the problem so that we can work together to resolve it as quickly as possible.

You can contact me here for any other information about tech editing, including my charges and rates and for pattern support.

Tech Editing Reviews......

Linda reviewed my e-course and had several helpful suggestions and things I hadn't considered. She also found some errors and suggested ways to improve parts that were unclear. She was quick to respond and I was very happy with her feedback. Rachel Gibbs, Knitting Pattern Designer.

Linda was very professional and thorough in her edits. She helped with consistency throughout the pattern in both the written and charted sections. She was able to identify errors I had overlooked between sizes. I am very happy with her attention to detail and feedback. I will happily be calling upon Linda for future tech editing needs. Laura Peters, Knitting Pattern Designer.

Absolutely wonderful to work with! Quick turn-around time and very good at what she does. KnitCrate will definitely be working with Linda in the future. Cristi, KnitCrate.

Linda has tech edited two knitting patterns for me and I’m very impressed with her work which combines accuracy with a speedy turn-around. She spotted several errors and omissions in the row-by-row written instructions and also suggested visual changes that make the patterns more cohesive. I heartily recommend Linda to any knitting and crochet designers in search of a professional tech editor.  Jan Eaton, Knitting & Crochet Pattern Designer.

Linda was awesome in tech editing my very first knitting pattern. She answered emails promptly and has a quick turnaround! Her edits and thoughtful suggestions resulted in more consistent and cohesive pattern. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Linda to any designer in search of tech editing. I'm a very happy customer.  Rita Tulodzieski (@craftsfullymade17 on Instagram), Knitting Pattern Designer.
